« To get started, one must stop talking and start doing », proclaimed Walt Disney. From Alice’s Fishy Story — his first short film released in 1924 — to Steamboat Willy in 1928, which marked a real turning point in animation history and in his career, along with the creation of The Walt Disney Company in 1923, the exhibition offers a chronological discovery of Walt Disney's incredibly rich and complex journey. His inspirations, the traditional tales and stories, are meticulously examined throughout the tour, which details the history of many films in their order of release: Snow White, Pinocchio, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Mary Poppins, Winnie the Pooh, and many more. 250 « Disney jewels » such as items from.. Archive images, film excerpts, original drawings, costumes, accessories, and iconic objects (like Mary Poppins' horse and a glass slipper...) highlight the exhibition.
Behind the Scenes of Disney Films: A Blend of Technical Marvels
While most Disney films get their share in the exhibition, Disney100 places a strong emphasis on the behind-the-scenes workings and the technical aspects of animated films. How do we tell a story? How do we bring characters to life and give them that "personality" that makes them feel "believable"? How do we use music to create unique atmospheres for each film and songs to express emotions? So many questions that reflect the richness of the animation world and find their answers in this visually, interactively, and sonically engaging exhibition.

The inventions and innovations (“Innoventions”) also have a special place here. From the animation of the 1930s to what we create today, the techniques have evolved significantly to perpetuate and enhance the magic of Disney. The producer, director, and screenwriter...had a heart for constantly exploring new things, to « push the boundaries of [his] own imagination ». And it’s a sure thing, even though he is now 100 years old, the story of Disney is just beginning. The Disney100 exhibition shows us that inventiveness, curiosity, fantasy, and creativity know no limits. Walt Disney himself assured us: « I think we have a lot of stories yet to tell. »
