Every spring, PAD Paris sets up at the Tuileries Garden, turning the capital into a design temple. The first design fair in the world, created in 1998, this must-see event attracts international collectors and enthusiasts of exceptional creations every year. For this 27th edition, taking place from April 2 to 6, 2025, the fair brings together 74 galleries, including 15 new exhibitors, from France and around the globe.

Since its inception, PAD has captivated the design world by skillfully blending historical and contemporary design, while providing a prime spot for emerging galleries that contribute to its evolution towards contemporary design. This year, it highlights design excellence through the presentation of three awards: the Best Stand Award, the Contemporary Design Award, and the Historical Design Award. The jury, comprised of experts, curators, architects, and design-loving decorators, will this year be presided over by Laura Gonzalez and Jacques Grange, two passionate architects.

This new edition promises a fascinating immersion in the world of design, showcasing a blend of historical pieces and contemporary creations. Here are five trends to closely follow this year.

1. A more responsible and sustainable design than ever

Respect for materials and sustainability has become a priority for many exhibitors this year. Maison Intègre (stand 36), a gallery located in Ouagadougou and specializing in bronze made from recycled metals, is showcasing Burkinabé craftsmanship through unique pieces, thus promoting the economic and social development of artisans. Another example is Sarah Myerscough Gallery (stand 49), which explores organic shapes and natural materials with creations in carved wood.

2. Sculptural Furniture Takes Center Stage

In 2025, furniture is stepping up as a true piece of art, where every item becomes a functional sculpture. Galerie Scène Ouverte (booth 55) is showcasing art furniture and unique ceramics or limited edition pieces, emphasizing the demand for craftsmanship and the rarity of creations. On the other hand, the British gallery Mélissa Paul (booth 63) presents objects with bold, sculpted lines that blur the boundaries between furniture and sculpture. This revival of sculptural furniture is part of a broader trend that values craftsmanship and personal expression through unique creations, often made in limited series, questioning both function and aesthetics.

3. Young Galleries, New Players in the Market

Discover the Excitement of PAD Paris!

The PAD Paris is not just a showcase for established dealers, it's also a launchpad for young galleries. Among them, Pulp Galerie (stand 22) stands out with its focus on design furniture from the 1970s to 2000, a period that is still underrepresented in the collectors' market but is gaining more and more interest. On the other hand, Objects with Narratives (stand 46) offers a conceptual approach where each piece tells a story, blending traditional craftsmanship and experimental design.

4. The Comeback of 20th Century Icons

The PAD Paris once again celebrates the great masters of 20th-century design, whose timeless creations continue to influence the contemporary landscape. Vintage design lovers will discover iconic pieces that have marked the history of furniture, highlighted by renowned galleries. Jacques Lacoste (stand 53) will showcase works by Jean Royère, famous for his organically curved seating and his iconic Polar Bear armchair. Meanwhile, Chastel-Maréchal (stand 8) will honor essential designers like Charlotte Perriand and Serge Roche, whose modernist lines and material explorations still resonate with current trends.

5. Decorative Art, An Endless Source of Inspiration

Far from being relegated to the past, decorative art continues to inspire and enchant with its creative vitality.Decorative arts continue to inspire contemporary designers, who reinterpret its codes with a distinctly modern approach. Carpenters Workshop Gallery (stand 56) showcases limited edition pieces that play with textures and materials. On its side, Maison Parisienne (stand 17) reveals an exciting collaboration between the cabinetmaker designer Pierre Renart and straw marquetry artist Lison de Caunes, illustrating the perfect blend of tradition and modernity.
