Football on stage, and even as a musical? A crazy challenge, it seems, but it's really going to happen! To celebrate France's stunning victory at the 1998 World Cup, a musical about it will debut on the stage of La Seine Musicale in 2028, before kicking off a tour across France. Let’s just say we’re super intrigued...

A victory etched in history
Get ready to take a trip back in time. It’s the summer of 1998, France has just beaten Brazil 3-0 and has become the world champion. Nothing can compare to the national joy sparked by the French team, then coached by Aimé Jacquet and filled with legends like Zinédine Zidane, Didier Deschamps, Lilian Thuram, and Frank Lebœuf. This was a first victory for France, a glorious moment in sports history that remains etched in our memories and continues to resonate with entire generations.

A well-known artistic team from the Parisian scene
1998, our greatest story will immerse us in this French excitement. Leading this project will be none other than Farid Benlagha, who produced the stage version of La Haine. We will have Emilie Capel and Yaman Okur at the artistic direction and choreography, Proof at the musical direction, and the librettist François Chouquet joined by a screenwriter to bring the characters of this unique show to life. The kickoff will take place in 2028 at La Seine Musicale. Ticket sales will open by the end of 2026, and in the meantime, let's hope that France brings us a new victory during the 2026 World Cup!
