At first glance, pairing a 19th-century painter with a dark fantasy RPG developed by the little French geniuses at Sandfall Interactive seems like a quirky bet. Yet, the combination makes perfect sense!
The creators of this video game have literally infused The Belle Époque, Haussmannian architecture, and Parisian iconography into their digital universe. In the game, art is everywhere, starting with the main antagonist. Even better: the current grand exhibition at the Orsay, Renoir and Love, resonates with the themes of the game where love is the foundational emotion. The shiny cobblestones of the virtual city of “Lumière” mirror the paintings of Caillebotte, while the architecture of Monaco station echoes that of Orsay.

In short, between the masters who captured light on canvas and the developers who sculpt it in 3D, the dialogue is perfect.
The program: what awaits you under the Orsay glass roof
For this exclusive night event, Orsay has pulled out all the stops, pun intended. From 7 PM to 8:45 PM, in addition to rediscovering the exhibitionsRenoir and Love and Renoir the Draftsman, you’ll be able to admire a unique display in the heart of the nave. Concept art and game captures will intermingle with the permanent collections.

At the same time, from 7:15 PM to 8:00 PM, you can meet the founding fathers of the game. Head over to the magnificent Salle des fêtes for an exclusive talk with Guillaume Broche (creative director) and Nicholas Maxson-Francombe (artistic director). They will be sharing how they hijacked the imagination of the 19th century to inspire their creation.
