Paris is known for its theaters and the grand plays that are performed there. It's also famous for its shows with such remarkable success that they get the pleasure of returning to the stage for a few performances. From February 12 to March 8, 2026, the Théâtre de l’Atelier is celebrating one of these shows: after being performed for the first time in 2025, Nothing Ever Happened to Me comes back to life for just twelve performances. Adapted from the Journal of Jean-Luc Lagarce, the play features Vincent Dedienne in the spotlight, directed by Johanny Bert.

Revealing Lagarce's Identity on Stage
He is known for his works Juste la fin du monde, Le Pays lointain, and Les Règles du savoir-vivre dans la société moderne. Wearing many hats as an actor, director, and playwright, Jean-Luc Lagarce has shaken up the world of theater. But beyond the author, who was he really?
By adapting to the stage — undoubtedly the best place to explore Lagarce — the journal of this unique artist, Vincent Dedienne offers us a sensitive dive into the intimacy of a personality that continues to fascinate just as much as it intrigues.

Between the Intimate and the Political
Between Paris and Besançon, Nothing Ever Happened to Me immerses us deep into the most profound thoughts and the creative process of Jean-Luc Lagarce, from his seventeen years to his passing at the age of 38 in 1995. From his literary and cinematic discoveries to his romantic experiences, along with his family stories and the rise of AIDS in the 1980s... the play stands out as both an intimate narrative and a testimony of an era that feels distant yet strangely close to our own.
An additional proof that, although Lagarce's works are not autobiographical, each one of them...carries something of its creator. Sometimes funny, sometimes moving, but above all political and incredibly poetic, Nothing Ever Happened to Me is a must-see— and a must-see again. We'll be there, and you?
