Do you know the real story of Santa Claus? Until January 5th, the Grand Hotel of Dreams invites you to dive into the origins of this well-known myth through an immersive theatrical experience, performed live right before your eyes. A magical experience that's out of time, promising to make both young and old dream.
Yule, a young apprentice who became Santa Claus
In Scandinavian and Germanic mythologies, Yule refers to the winter solstice, marking the return of light and the rebirth of the Sun, often associated with the Christmas festivities in Nordic countries. So it’s no coincidence that The Grand Hotel of Dreams chose this name, full of magic and tradition, to embody the main character of its new show The Real Story of Santa Claus.

It all begins in the shop of an old seamstress, Uldra, where young Solange Papillot seeks help to repair a precious piece of jewelry. Upon seeing it, the one they call "the witch" realizes who she’s dealing with and starts telling the story of a dear friend of her parents: Yule. Little by little, we dive into the fantastical world of this young apprentice who will soon become Santa Claus, a realm filled with witches, magical cabinets, and gifts! From the old Hazelius's toy shop to the post office at the edge of the pole, passing through Balthazar Papillot's candy store, we witness the birth of a nearly 200-year-old myth.
An immersive play in a magical setting
Far from being just a simple theater play that you watch from a distance, the show at the Grand Hôtel des Rêves invites us to explore the maze of the ancient hotel Le Brun, now taken over by the production company Polaris, through an immersive experience where the performers have fun engaging with the audience. As the story unfolds, the characters invite us to move from room to room to uncover the secrets of this timeless legend!
