New York has its Tony Awards, London has its Olivier Awards… and what about Paris? The French capital is definitely not lagging behind! This Monday, June 23, the curtain at the Mogador Theatre rose, not for a performance of The Lion King, but for the 7th edition of the Musical Comedy Trophies. Glitter, powerful voices, astonishing performances—this ceremony, led by the vibrant Cloé Horry, honored the best artists and performances that have shined on Parisian stages. Les Misérables, Virginie and Paul, La Haine… Let’s shine a spotlight on these amazing shows that have received the prestigious golden award.


Les Misérables acclaimed and multi-awarded

In a thrilling atmosphere, and with thunderous applause from over 1500 spectators, the 2025 edition of the Musical Comedy Awards took place at one of the prime venues for musical theatre in Paris. They sang, danced, performed… For nearly 3 hours, the talent of the artists, rightly nicknamed the "Swiss Army knives during the opening of the evening, as well as the efforts of those working behind the scenes, were celebrated. 

The ceremony kicked off with the trophy for Male Revelation of the year. A double award went to Nathan Desnyder for his performance in Chat Botté - The Musical and to Stanley Kassa in Les Misérables, marking the first trophy in a long series for this musical. Showcasing itself as the most performed show in the world with over 125 million spectators, Les Misérables made its return to France at the end of 2024, directed by Ladislas Chollat at the Théâtre du Châtelet, 45 years after its creation by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg.

In total, sevenRewards have been given to this exceptional musical: the Female Revelation Trophy for Océane Demontis in her role as Eponine, the Best Supporting Male Role for David Alexis for his portrayal of Monsieur Thénardier, the Costume Creation award, the Scenography award, the Revival award, and the Directing award. The Honor Trophy has also been awarded to Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg. 


La Haine, Virginie et Paul, and Ménopause also recognized

Next up is Virginie et Paul, the musical by Jacques Mougenot performed at the Théâtre Le Ranelagh, which received three trophies, including the long-awaited Musical of the Year. The show was also honored with the trophies for Best Score and Best Book.

La Haine, a show by Mathieu Kassovitz presented at La Seine Musicale from October to December 2024, has won the Choreography Award as well as the Collective Award. 

Women were particularly celebrated. Agnès Pat’ received the Best Supporting Female Role Award and Emmanuelle Bougerol won the Female Performer Award in Pride and Prejudice, Revisited: A Jane Austen Work./">Pride & Prejudice… or almost!. The show Menopause was awarded the prestigious Public Trophy, tied with Fabricurious, for a performance in the region. Finally, Dear Uncatchable received the Musical Show Trophy, and Grégori Baquet was honored with the Male Performer Trophy for his role as Cosme McMoon in Colorature.

And because keeping this unique art of musical comedy alive involves introducing it to the youngest audiences, Puss in Boots - The Musical by the Safa brothers has been awarded the Young Public Musical Comedy Trophy. With disco sounds and a medley of the most iconic musicals, the evening concluded with a standing ovation from an enchanted audience, eager to discover what’s next!that next year holds for him in terms of show!
