If the essence of theater is to be immersive, the new temple of live performance that just opened in the 11th district is its most tangible incarnation. Since May, the Théâtre à la minute has been offering the public a concept never before seen in France: 15-minute plays, staged in tiny rooms of about 15m², in front of the lovely eyes of 15 people, and for the amazing price of not 15 euros (phew!), but a flat 10 euros (a pretty reasonable rate). With it, you get an intense experience, up close and personal with the actors.

A mix of theater, cinema, and bar

Thanks to Miriel Cejas, a theater actress from Cuba, this project came to life. As she explains to our colleagues from Parisien, this young woman "discovered this format in Spain in 2011" and found it "brilliant." What’s her ambition? "To attract an audience that doesn’t go to the theater," she shares, while the tiny venues "create a vibe that resembles being at the cinema," exclaims Estelle Courret, who stars in one of the plays. It’s a .detail close: instead of being static, comfortably nestled in their seats, the audience can be standing and systematically changing rooms throughout the performances (if multiple have been booked), while also munching on snacks, as the space doubles as a bar where they can chat about the show.

New plays every day

In a cheerful atmosphere where laughter, mischief, and excitement mix, the professional actors share that they are energized by the audience's vibe. They perform what are called « adult » plays on odd days and family-friendly skits on even days, inviting both young and old to join in the fun. For the upcoming season, you can choose the series The Love That Remains, featuring sizzling portrayals of desires, intense arguments, and delightful surprises, or go for  The Time That Flies, a series of calmer, gentler shows where you can rediscover « the simplicity of a first love, the warmth of family bonds, and the magic of little things ». Between burlesque, ...drag show and comedy club, the Théâtre à la minute expresses its love for live performance endlessly, never setting any boundaries.
