The Editor

He has revolutionized as much as he has delighted the fashion world. Without a doubt, there’s no one quite like Gianni Versace. Blending boldness with historical and artistic inspirations, his creations have left a mark on their era and continue to stand the test of time like priceless works of art. This unique artist will be honored with a retrospective at the Musée Maillol, the first in France since 1986, from June 5 to September 6, 2026.

Over 400 pieces on display

It has been showcased in London, Berlin, Malaga, and other European cities… so it only made sense to stop in the fashion capital of the world: Paris. The summer of 2026 will shine with glamour and elegance à la Versace.

Around 450 pieces — original creations, accessories, sketches, decorative objects, photos, videos, interviews — set in a pop scenography inspired by the runways designed by Nathalie Crinière, the exhibition traces the creator's career and uncovers his inspirations. And speaking of inspirations, the designer had plenty: Calabria — his native region in Italy — the splendor of baroque, pop art, music, cinema, and many more.

An exhibition where all arts have their place

Throughout the journey, Versace's creations interact with fashion snaps from photographers Richard Avedon, Irving Penn, Helmut Newton, and more.

ck Demarchelier and Mario Testino, but also with the unique worlds of Botticelli, Canova, Picasso, Andy Warhol, or Julian Schnabel. The personalities he had the chance to dress will also have a special place, just like Carla Bruni, Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford, and Naomi Campbell

2026 wasn’t picked by chance: this year, Gianni Versace would have celebrated his 80th birthday — the designer was born in December 1949 and passed away in July 1997. So, get ready for a unique dive into the creative process of one of the pillars of modern fashion!
