Amateurs, professionals, and curious people of the world of performing arts can indulge themselves at CENTQUATRE-PARIS from April 1st to May 17th, as contemporary dance will be the guest of honor for the 11th edition of Séquence Danse Paris. It's a great opportunity to (re)discover this vibrant art in all its forms.
In total, there will be 12 performances that will bring life to the corridors of this artistic hub in the 19th arrondissement. These pieces, whether performed in groups, solo, or duets, showcase the passion and power of contemporary dance.
The opening weekend will stun us with 4 breathtaking shows, including one taking place outside the venue, at the Louis Aragon theater in Tremblay-en-France. First, we will immerse ourselves in the green hues.A forest with Faintings, choreographed by Nina Traub. The three dancers, accompanied by musician Zoe Polansky, reveal an intimate relationship with nature, between excitement, movement, rhythm, and silence.
Next, we have two choreographies by Leïla Ka, which depict female bodies in search of freedom and transcendence. The first piece, Bouffées, unveils five women clothed in colorful patterned dresses, performing nervous gestures. The second piece, C'est toi qu'on adore, combines powerful and theatrical dances in a poignant struggle against adversity.Short but highly impactful pieces. Then we dive into Leonard Cohen's song, Suzanne, performed by Nina Simone in 1969 at the Philharmonic Hall in New York. On this soundtrack, Israeli choreographer Emanuel Gat has reimagined and conceived Suzanne, a lively spectacle, as an ode to his beloved theater in Tel Aviv, where he has worked for almost 15 years and established his company. On stage, a young generation of dancers question the perception of time through gestures and groups that form, break apart, and come together again. A hypnotic whirlwind! Lastly, the Louis Aragon Theatre in Tremblay-en-France reveals an emblematic work by Schubert, anchored in an explosive performance with two exceptional performers.Hip-hop culture, choreographed by Marco da Silva Ferreira. A piece for piano with four hands and a dance with four feet... In short, Fantasie Minor is an original show that breaks the codes.
