« We are two twin sisters, born under the sign of Gemini », sing Delphine and Solange, played by Catherine Deneuve and Françoise Dorléac in The Young Girls of Rochefort in 1972. A song by Michel Legrand, which has become as cult as the feature film by Jacques Demy, of which it is a part. And just like that, 53 years after its release, this French musical is coming back to life and will grace the stage at the Lido next October.

A production that should stay true to the film
While the cast hasn't been announced yet, we know that the Lido never lets us down! This new production by Jean-Luc Choplin — also behind the Umbrellas of Cherbourg at the Théâtre du Châtelet and Donkey Skin at the Théâtre Marigny — promises to be as faithful to the original film as we could hope. With direction by Gilles Rico and a set design envisioned by Bruno de Lavenère, we will meet Delphine and Solange, two twins living in Rochefort, who dream of moving to the capital to achieve their dreams: to become a dancer for one, and a composer for the other.

Musical performances in their original version at the Lido
Since its reopening in December 2022, the former Lido cabaret, transformed into a performance venue, has been continuously offering more and more spectacular shows. With a focus on musical comedies in their original versions, the venue kicked off with the iconic Broadway classic: Cabaret. This was followed by A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, ...">Hello Dolly !, and Titanique, a magnificent parody of the famous film of the same name, is on stage until June 25th!
