The Crow and the Fox, The Grasshopper and the Ant, The Oak and the Reed, or even The Town Rat and the Country Rat, no matter your age, you’ve certainly come across the Fables of La Fontaine during your schooling. They are short tales that often feature animals, with morals that remain etched in our minds for decades. And recently, these poetic stories have come to life over more than 1000 m² just a stone’s throw from the Champs-Élysées. We had the chance to preview the Immersive City of Fables. And one thing is for sure, it’s quite breathtaking.

A complete sensory experience that's truly modern

For some, the Fables of La Fontaine are a childhood trauma, synonymous with somewhat outdated and old-fashioned literature. However, in this brand new cultural spot, they are experiencing a revival.

give a second youth, by adapting these texts to contemporary society with a great dose of storytelling, technology and museography. Through 6 rooms with diverse themes and absolutely stunning decorations, the immersive City of Fables shows us everything these tales have in common with our customs and current issues.

From the Fox to the Lion, passing by the Wolf and the Frog, the animals of La Fontaine come to life before our eyes, revealing all their secrets through a variety of animations and activities. There are staged readings of the texts, of course, but also games, archival objects that showcase the legacy of the fables, exclusive and educational videos from the YouTuber Nota Bene, audio recordings by renowned voices reciting the texts, and even participatory activities like a huge digital mural that immerses us 360° into this enchanting world.

A 5-Star Cast

To give a voice to the iconic characters of the writer, the immersive City of Fables has enlisted talented actors. Laurent Stocker, impeccable as Jean de la Fontaine, moves from room to room with charm and charisma.

The highlight of the show is the Dream Room, a 360° experience that wraps visitors in a timeless adventure. Here, the world of La Fontaine comes to life before our amazed eyes, blending illustrations and recitals. This grand finale is brought to life by a flawless musical direction, conceived by the French duo Bon Entendeur. You’ll leave this experience with fables in your mind and stars in your eyes, feeling like you’ve traveled 300 years back in time. It’s a unique moment, a modern retelling of the classics, that pays wonderful tribute to Jean de la Fontaine.
