Attention, ladies and gentlemen, the most famous train in the world is about to arrive at the station, please step away from the platform edge. Yes, you aren't dreaming: the Orient Express is gearing up for its return to the tracks in its original version in 2027, under the direction of the Accor group. The good news? You can already discover the life-size models at the Museum of Decorative Arts. This is great news for both train enthusiasts and Agatha Christie fans!


The Orient Express, a symbol of elegance and French mystery

With adventure, refinement, and mystery, the Orient Express has captivated minds since its launch in 1883 by Belgian engineer Georges Nagelmackers. And rightfully so, this train connecting Paris to Istanbul, with a stop in Venice, offered its travelers an ultra-luxurious experience with elegantly designed French-style cabins, white tablecloths, and lounges where diplomats, artists, aristocrats, and even spies would meet. Each carriage was a marvel...It was a true Art Deco gem, so much so that there could only be one museum in Paris to pay tribute to it: the Museum of Decorative Arts.


A Dive into Art Deco and Railways at the Heart of MAD

Since October 22, the expo 1925-2025, One Hundred Years of Art Deco at MAD has gathered a thousand exceptional pieces, including sculptural furniture, art objects, and all kinds of jewelry, celebrating the centenary of this movement. To give us one last amazing visual treat, under the museum's Nave, there...finds for the first time unpublished archival pieces of historic trains, as well as life-size models of the future Orient Express train. In total, 17 carriages from the 1920s – discovered in Poland in 2015 – have been restored by architect Maxime D’Angeac, alongside around thirty artisans, three of whom can be explored without any delay at the museum. It's enough to spark our travel desires...
