The Editor

After lighting up the front of the Paris Opera last September and November, artist JR is back with more surprises in store for us. But this time, he's taking a break from the big projects and continuing his 13th collaboration with the Perrotin gallery in the Marais to present his new exhibition "In the Light" from June 7 to July 27. And the best part? Admission is totally free! From grand monuments to living artworks Renowned for his massive and temporary works, JR knows how to make a lasting impact. In 2016, he made the Louvre pyramid disappear with a giant optical illusion, and more recently, in September and November 2023, he transformed the façade of the Opera Garnier, which was covered in scaffolding due to renovation. With his project "Return to the Cave," JR displayed an impressive trompe l'oeil inspired by Plato's cave, which he also turned into a ballet performance in front of thousands of Parisians.

Towards the Light

Continuing with the theme of the allegory of the cave, presented in Plato's The Republic, JR presents his new exhibition: In the Light. And as the name suggests, his works emerge from the shadows to embrace the light, a symbol of the liberation of the cave prisoners, embracing the a quest for knowledge and a real revelation. To do this, we find all kinds of films and photo prints, as well as experimental techniques in black ink on wood and charcoal. All depicting different moments of the famous CHIROPTERA, on a city scale. To discover it all, come and join us from June 7th to July 27th!
