In the Hugo family, I ask for the grandson. The House of Victor Hugo invites us until March 10, 2024, to discover Georges Victor-Hugo, a painter and illustrator as talented as his novelist grandfather. Due to the location (after all, we are in Victor Hugo's former apartment), we enter this exhibition as if entering a journal. The intimate life of this illustrious family. Georges Victor-Hugo touches us through the tender representations of his grandfather, his wives, or his children, all true declarations of love. The drawings, engravings, photos, and paintings follow one another, taking us through the entire production of Georges Victor-Hugo, who handles both humorous satire and landscapes with astonishing sweetness. The "Petit Georges" positions itself as a true chronicler of its time and takes us on a journey from Paris to Iceland, passing through England, Brittany, and Italy. And if it proves one thing here, it is that its success definitely does not only depend on its name.
