For the past few days, red lanterns have been adorning the different neighborhoods of the city. And it's for a good reason: on February 17th, we celebrate the Lunar New Year (commonly called Chinese New Year) to welcome the new Year of the Fire Horse. On this occasion, many exciting activities await us all around the capital, including exhibitions, shows, and gourmet markets. And of course, as tradition dictates, a grand parade will take over the 13th, also known as Paris' historic Chinatown, scheduled for this year on March 1, 2026.

Two Weeks of Festivities in the 13th

From February 13th to March 1st, the entire 13th district will be buzzing with the celebrations of the Lunar New Year to honor the Year of the Fire Horse, a year associated with energy, freedom, and vital momentum in the Chinese zodiac. The neighborhood is planning festive events for nearly two weeks, blending culture and gastronomy. Food lovers can enjoy...

You can rejoice in the exhibition My Mother and Me by Hom Nguyen at the Athéna gallery, a tribute to the maternal figure and Vietnamese heritage. Also, be sure to check out Ink in Light, an exhibition by Zheng Taijun at the Bièvre gallery, blending Chinese tradition with a contemporary twist.

The neighborhood also welcomes a series of shows, such as The Spring Fan, a narrative concert taking place on February 13 at the town hall's festive hall in the 13th, blending Chinese and French arts with guqin, saxophone, percussion, and classical dance. The General Union of Vietnamese in France is organizing the Tết Show on February 20, offering a deep dive into Vietnamese theater. Other cultural events, including traditional concerts and stand-up, will continue to bring excitement throughout the season. Notably, the Spring Festival organized by the Village 13 Collective will return for its second edition at Digital Village on Albert Bayet Street on February 28. On the agenda: a creators' market, round tables, workshops, games exploring Asian cultures, and a dance initiation by the Chinese Dance Company of Paris, followed by performances.

The grand finale: the 13th district parade

The legendary Lunar New Year parade, or...organized by the Association of French Residents of Indochinese origin since 1986, this year it will take place on Sunday, March 1, 2026. A must-see event, it brings together thousands of spectators from here and beyond every year. And one thing is for sure, as usual, the parade will be absolutely magical with its dragon and lion dances, hundreds of traditional costumes, its illuminated floats, and its enchanting characters. The procession will depart from 44 Avenue d'Ivry at 2 PM, and will weave through the streets of the 13th district, including Avenue de Choisy and Boulevard Masséna. In short, a magnificent afternoon awaits us.
