We know quite a few multi-talented artists. Gaël Faye shines just as brightly writing songs as he does writing books. Then there's Patrick Bruel, who excels at both singing and poker playing. And let’s not forget Aliocha Schneider, who dazzles just as much in front of a microphone as he does in front of a camera. But we won’t lie, when we found out that rapper Kid Cudi has ventured into painting, it took us by surprise! However, the American singer is set to showcase his artwork in the capital in a few days.
A new feather in his cap
In 2008, Kid Cudi made his mark on the global scene with his hit “Day N’ Night” — the first single from his debut album.
, as the saying goes, trial run, masterstroke. Since then, he delights us year after year with ever more captivating sounds, and just recently made an appearance on the latest album by the French singer Disiz (which you should definitely listen to, by the way).Voir cette publication sur Instagram
And in 2026, he completely reinvents himself through painting, which he started just a little over a year ago, with a desire to reconnect with his childhood dreams: to become a cartoonist. Under the pseudonym Scotty Ramon (two of his real first names), he reveals to us canvas after canvas a dreamlike universe exploring questions of inner state, mental health, and introspection.
A Dreamlike and Quirky World
As he progresses through his works, the musician introduces us to his alter ego, Max. A little guy dressed in denim, chased by demons, haunted by a shadow with red eyes. Sometimes silhouetted...complete, sometimes simple smooth and brown shape, this character explores a world composed of colors and shapes more or less concrete, where the interpretation remains free for everyone. But if the dark side of these drawings is probably the one that stands out the most, through Echoes of the Past — the name of the exhibition — Kid Cudi still offers us a glimmer of hope, a light at the end of the path, towards which he tirelessly reaches, painting after painting.
