In September, the Trocadéro takes you back to childhood… in XXL format. For the 43rd edition of the European Heritage Days, taking place on September 19 and 20, 2026, a quirky game board will set up right in front of the Eiffel Tower. Its name? The Monumental Game of Goose. But forget the little board sitting on your living room table—here, the game spreads over 200 m² and invites you to literally step into the artwork. A free artistic and playful installation to discover on Saturday, September 19 at the Parvis des Droits de l'Homme, for a game like no other.
A shared playground
Imagined by French painter Gwendoline Finaz de Villaine and illustrator Pauline Lévêque, the Monumental Game of Goose revisits the famous board game that delighted entire generations of children. But this time, the life-size board sets up right in the heart of Paris, with
the Eiffel Tower in the background. The idea? Transform a work to be admired into an experience to live through with your body. Here, you don't just look—you walk through, interact, play, and move forward. Armed with giant dice, participants advance square by square across 63 illustrated scenes, like real human game pieces. Whether you're young, old, a seasoned player, or simply curious, everyone can join in this immersive adventure.Voir cette publication sur Instagram
From Manhattan to Trocadéro
Blending painting, street art and performance, the Monumental Game of Goose didn't actually spring from Parisian imagination. This artwork first took its steps across the Atlantic, on the streets of New York. Before setting up shop at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, the installation had taken over the iconic Madison Avenue in Manhattan, for Bastille Day – a celebration of France's national holiday, American-style, organized by the Consulate General of France in New York and L'Alliance New York.

And the concept clearly struck a chord! This first edition attracted nearly 60,000 visitors. After winning over New Yorkers, the Monumental Game of Goose is now treating itself to a brand new particularly spectacular playground right in the heart of Paris.
