From March 17 to May 7, the rising young sculptor Hugo Servanin, a graduate of the National School of Decorative Arts in Paris, presents his first solo exhibition at the Magasins Généraux with a vast sculptural installation that is immersive and evolving, the result of two years of conception. Through narratives, sculptures, installations, and mechanical and technological devices, the artist brings to life the "world of Giants" and resonates with mythologies. Using various materials such as glass, clay, resin, and metal, and the casting of human bodies, we question the notion of the ideal body, from the birth of the Giants to their death. Entitled "Environment 5," the installation is Hugo Servanin's first of such grand scale, and he has had the opportunity to collaborate with artists such as Mohamed Bourouissa, Jesse Kanda, and Jeanne Vicerial throughout his journey. The visit begins with the creation of a library.in line with moldings made directly on the skin, before turning their attention to the same deformed, manipulated and augmented silhouettes, this time in glass or clay and taking on the appearance of chimeras outside of time, as if straight out of a post-human society. In the center, a stream whose water is drawn from the Canal de l'Ourcq gives life to plants and micro-organisms. The whole forms an ecosystem that reflects the fragile nature of the human body, before ending with the embalming of bodies laid in glass sheets.
