2026 marks a true turning point, that of the bicentenary of photography's history. For this occasion, many of Paris's cultural institutions are mobilizing: this is notably the case of the European House of Photography (MEP), as well as the Bourse de Commerce. From October 7th through January 18th, 2027, the 1st arrondissement museum welcomes you to experience a singular artistic journey. Several hundred works by over 70 artists are brought together to pay a brilliant tribute to photography.

700 works and over 70 artists
On the program: works from the Pinault Collection, revealed with no particular chronological order, among which you can wander freely. The photographs speak to each other through their style, their aesthetics or even their era, offering a journey through the history of photography.
700 works make up the exhibition Remember Me, some of which are signed by Wolfgang Tillmans, Cindy Sherman, Gustave Le Gray, Dorothea Lange, Louise Lawler and many others.
200 years of a story still being written every single day
From September 1, 2026 to September 30, 2027, the Ministry of Culture plans to celebrate this bicentennial of the invention of photography
throughout the country. The first photo, taken by Nicéphore Niépce, is indeed dated 1826-1827. Since then, this medium has never stopped fascinating and evolving to achieve real technical breakthroughs. « Born in France two hundred years ago, photography is now part of our daily lives, especially for young people. [...] From daguerreotype to selfie, photography's bicentennial is an invitation to celebrate the history of this major art form in France through our collections, which are unique in the world, but also to showcase the diversity of the most contemporary creations », affirmed Rachida Dati, former Minister of Culture, in a statement.Voir cette publication sur Instagram
