As part of the Les Étés du Louvre festival, the Kwir Nou Exist exhibition is making its debut. It's a celebration of the queer communities of Réunion Island, showcased through a series of photographs displayed outdoors for free until July 25th, presented by model and activist Raya Martigny and photographer Édouard Richard.
An immersion into the queer youth of Réunion
« We are Creole. We are queer. We exist. » With Kwir Nou Exist, the artist couple presents work spanning several years, with a project that started in 2020. Through a series of back-and-forth trips between Paris and Réunion, Raya and Édouard have documented the queer youth of the island through a series of snapshots, capturing faces for the p.outdoor lupart, resolutely imprinted with tenderness and pride. The “kwir” and Creole identities intertwine here, questioning image after image how the Reunionese LGBTQIA+ community is shaped in its insular and cultural context.

Performances, parties, and gatherings in the heart of Tuileries
The exhibition – completely accessible for free – is also brought to life by special performances and unique evenings. After an electrifying opening on July 15 (with Claude Emmanuelle behind the decks), there are two events to mark in our calendars: the first is on July 20 for the Open Air, a party organized by Fawa, which will set up its dancefloor in the heart of the Tuileries alongside DJs like Corbeille Dallas, De Vedelly, Kandelissa, and many more; the second event is on July 22 with a discussion evening around the themes of the exhibition, hosted by Brandon Gercera and Sanjeeyann Paleatchy, followed by a legendary drag show from Sheinara Tanjabi and ….Soa de Muse, finalist of Drag Race France season 1 and current contestant on Drag Race France All Stars.
