She has shone brightly with the strength of her performances on screen and her feminist and political commitment. Since her beginnings in 2002, Adèle Haenel has continued to make a mark on French cinema, winning two Césars for her roles in Suzanne and Les Combattants. But in 2023, she announced her break from this industry, which she describes as racist, ecocidal, and complicit in the silence surrounding sexual predators. Since then, she has dedicated herself to a committed and liberated theater. And from October 8 to 12, you’ll have the chance to discover the first show she directs at the Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord.

The performance written and staged by Adèle Haenel will notably bring the texts of Monique Wittig into conversation with those of other great feminist authors such as Audre Lorde, Adrienne Rich, and Elsa Dorlin. It will unfold in the form of a circle of words formed at dusk, around a blazing fire, where artists and the audience will gather to exchange ideas, reflect, and reshape the world.
A collaborative performance aimed at making changes
Before diving into La pensée straight, the collective had already worked on one of Monique Wittig's works, Le Voyage sans fin. The goal: to highlight activists, question the structures of gender oppression, and to try to invest in the appropriation.
the masculine notion of language and power in a different way. By bringing these texts to the forefront, DameChevaliers creates a space where inclusivity, emotions, and radicality have their place, transforming the audience into major players in the spectacle and collective political action.
