It’s a simply spectacular journey that La Villette invites you to join in just a few weeks. Inside a 2,000 m² marquee, the most cultural park in the capital offers you the chance to literally dive into Japanese culture. A budget-friendly expedition to the other side of the world, to discover Japanese culture, rich and fascinating.

A stroll between tradition and modernity

From March 19 to August 23, all the facets of Japan will be showcased in the park of La Villette. For 5 months, take part in a stroll through the lively streets of Tokyo and the traditional neighborhoods of Kyoto recreated to life size, before enjoying a zen garden for a well-deserved break, away from the sometimes too intense activity of the capital. To continue your journey, you can learn more about samurai, the c...Ceremony of tea, architecture, and Japanese gastronomy, as well as mangas, which have become one of the most popular literary genres on the planet in recent years. With authentic objects, sound ambiance, and life-sized decorations, nothing is left to chance to offer you a genuine journey.

The Five Senses in a Whirlwind

The highlight of the journey is an impressive immersive experience, during which the prints of some of the greatest Japanese masters, like Hokusai and Hiroshige, come to life before your eyes in a whirlwind of art and poetry. It's a fascinating dive into the world of ukiyo-e, one of the main artistic movements in Japan from the 17th to the 19th century. And finally, to wrap up beautifully, you can enjoy an incredible Food & Beverage space that is authentically Japanese, so you can fill up on ramen, sushi, onigiri, and other mochi. A delight for the eyes, but also for the taste buds !
