Five years after his passing, the French Cinemathèque invites us to rediscover this icon, both the artist and the man behind the legend, through a tribute exhibition that takes us on a journey through time. A truly unique retrospective to explore from October 7th through January 31st, 2027.

A magnificent multi-talented performer
After Agnès Varda, Marilyn Monroe, James Cameron… It's another cinema giant who gets his own exhibition at the Cinémathèque Française. It was in the 1960s, with the film Breathless that Jean-Paul Belmondo launched his acting career. More than just an actor, he established himself as an artist with multiple talents, capable of performing in comedies, dramas, and action films alike. He boasts nearly 90 films to his credit, in addition to his theatrical roles.

Exhibition, retrospective, meetings...
Double Lock, Two Women, A Woman Is a Woman, Borsalino, Stravinsky, Pierrot le Fou, Cop or Crook… So many feature films in which Belmondo plays a central role. Alongside the exhibition, a retrospective of his films will be presented at the Cinematheque, and meetings and screening presentations will take place alongside Paul and Victor Belmondo, his son and grandson. An event not to be missed for anything in the world, starting October 7th!
