There are passions that are priceless, and for Sir Elton John, photography is one of them. Since 1991, the artist has been collecting the work of photographers from all around the world and from every artistic background. Now, this private collection, created with his husband, David Furnish, boasts no fewer than 7000 images. Through the exhibition Fragile beauty, the Jeu de Paume invites the public to explore a portion of this unique collection, from June 12 to September 27, 2026.

Five Themes Addressed
Produced by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and presented in the British capital in 2025, the exhibition Fragile Beauty has now set up shop in Paris. With 300 displayed photographs, it highlights the passion that Sir Elton John and David Furnish have for photography, along with each artist’s unique vision of the world. Divided into five thematic sections, the exhibition covers topics such as fashion, desire, celebrity, identity affirmation, and photojournalism.

Over 70 Years of History in Photos
The exhibited prints span a period from 1950 to present. Some of these pieces have even revolutionized the history of photography. You'll find works by Herb Ritts, Sunil Gupta, George Platt Lynes, and Philip-Lorca diCorcia. Acollection as intimate as poetic and historical. « Just like when you write a song, there is, when you take a photograph, a bit of luck and chance — something happens at the right moment and you must have the wit to press the shutter », says Sir Elton John.
