Several years have passed since June 2021, when the Centre des monuments nationaux welcomed hundreds of visitors at the heart of the most beautiful parts of the Hôtel de la Marine, an iconic monument on Place de la Concorde. It's an immersive journey through time that takes us from the Renaissance to the 18th century. So why not take a moment outside of time with one of the institution's very attractive tour offers? **The Intendants' Apartments** A true "Versailles laboratory," the Intendants' Apartments are now presented in the state they were in at the end of the 18th century, offering the most authentic experience possible for a proper journey through time. The atmosphere is special, almost magical, immersing you in the past thanks to astonishing restoration work that sometimes involved scraping away layers until - and then we have an abrupt ending. It took 18 coats of paint to restore the wall's original blue color. The process was worth it to see the vibrant hue shining brightly once again! 😊💙🎨 #painting #restoration #bluewalls

As you stroll through, guided by the voice of the Confidant, leading visitors from one room to another, you will be dazzled by the gilding, moldings, parquet floors, and tiles worthy of the most beautiful fairy-tale castles. An exceptional moment that allows us to see these apartments as if the inhabitants had only left yesterday. All of this is made possible thanks to a clever staging, and the presence of simply invaluable (and impressive) furniture, some of which are classified as national treasures. And for those who have already had the chance to visit these magnificent rooms, no need to worry. The Intendants' Apartments now offer a new olfactory experience: Odoramento. The institution has called upon Chantal Sanier, a magician of scents, to perfume the atmosphere of these rooms and stimulate all of our senses. The result is 6 unique fragrances, contained in 6 wax sculptures inspired by 18th-century objects from the Fragonard Museum, whose olfactory atmospheres evoke characters from the Garde-Meuble, blending perfectly into the decor, for as complete an experience as possible.

The Al Thani Collection

Second visit, and not the least, the sumptuous (and almost mystical) Al Thani Collection. This is one of the most important and prestigious collections in the world, bringing together an astronomical number of pieces tracing the history from Antiquity to modern days. An invaluable ensemble, which has settled in the Hôtel de la Marine for 20 years, and presents us with its most beautiful treasures through temporary exhibitions, but also in a gallery dedicated entirely to its most intriguing pieces.

Through these means, the eponymous foundation successfully highlights the cultural richness of our world, as well as promoting art to a wider audience. The ideal way to celebrate all the resources of human creativity, as well as the universal power of art through the ages.

And the current temporary exhibition is no exception, as the Al Thani Collection dazzles us once again, this time showcasing sumptuous works from the Renaissance - most of which have never been presented in Paris - in the exhibition The Taste of the Renaissance. A dialogue between collections. In collaboration with the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Hôtel de la Marine highlights the creative power of this period. Sculptures, paintings, manuscripts, textiles, and jewelry, with over 130 pieces brought together in the 4 exhibition rooms to amaze us, touch us, and make us (re)discover all the cultural richness of the Renaissance.
