Last weekend, the art world, and more specifically One of the pillars of photography has been lost. At the age of 73, British photographer Martin Parr has passed away after several years of battling cancer. He was known for his vibrant snapshots, delightfully colorful, blending kitsch and satire while capturing both the ordinary and the world's evolution. His favorite subjects? « Normal people» as he loved to call them. The middle class to which he belonged.

With over 50 years of experience under his belt, the artist has been a witness to changing societies and different consumer habits. Through the exhibition Global Warming, held at Jeu de Paume from January 30 to May 24, 2026, the museum offers us not just a final glimpse, but a powerful moment of connection with the photographer and his work.

Documenting the evolution of our societies

The disasters caused by the rise of mass tourism, the dependence on technology, the unstoppable overconsumption, and environmental damage resulting from human activity… These upheavals have been carefully documented by Martin Parr.

Throughout his career. Initially focusing on the British Isles and Ireland, he began exploring these themes internationally from the 1990s.

With his vibrant flair and witty humor that are distinctly his own, his seemingly light snapshots have over the years come to serve as a valuable and critical documentation of the evolution of time and mindsets.

Global Warming brings together 180 photographs captured over the last fifty years, divided into five sections. From black and white to color, the exhibition takes us on a journey that is funny, sometimes uncomfortable, but above all undeniably artistic, into the unique universe of a photographer like no other. It's an engaging exhibition, reflecting our excesses, that in a way, sounds the alarm and calls us to action
