The Editor

What if theater could change the world? That's the idea behind Paroles Citoyennes, a festival that has been blending performance and reflection since 2017. For its 8th edition, it takes on the themes of war and identities, with a striking and accessible lineup for everyone. This is an event not to be missed, especially when societal issues are more critical than ever, from March 18 to May 12, 2025.

A theater festival to nourish public debate

Each year, the Paroles Citoyennes festival transforms Parisian stages into true agoras. More than just a lineup of performances, it offers a space for reflection and discussion around pressing societal themes. For this 8th edition, the festival addresses the question of war and identities through powerful plays, followed by lively debates led by experts, artists, and political figures.

Among the highlights, Simone Veil: The Battles of a Brazen Woman will bring to the stage the inspiring journey of this remarkable woman, while Treatise on Intolerance by Richard Malka will explore freedom of expression. Other shows like The Art of Losing, The Last Letter, and The Last Evening immerse the audience in moving stories where history and the personal intertwine.

The festival will take place in several iconic venues in the capital, such as the Théâtre Antoine (10th district), the Théâtre Libre and La Scène Libre (10th district), as well as the Théâtre Juliette Récamier (7th district), providing a wonderful variety of spaces to host these thrilling debates.

A Concrete Commitment to Accessing Culture

Paroles Citoyennes is not just about highlighting essential themes, it also takes action to make theater accessible to everyone. This year, .A suspended ticket system will allow those in difficulty to enjoy certain shows for free, thanks to blocks of tickets purchased by partner companies. Another exciting addition is the Youth Pass for those under 28: after reserving three shows, the ticket drops to just €10. It’s a wonderful way to open the doors of the theater to a new, curious, and engaged generation.

Between performances and meet-ups, the Paroles Citoyennes festival once again establishes itself as an essential cultural and societal event. Mark your calendars from March 18 to May 12, 2025 to discover a theater that challenges, questions, and shines a light on our times.
