Abstract art is given a great deal of importance in the cultural places of the capital, but do you know its opposite, figurative art, a slice of contemporary art that represents reality, which has been neglected since the 1950s? For its new exhibition, Maison Caillebotte invites you to "Figurations. Another art of today".

It builds a historical framework of figurative art from one century to another, in France and abroad, through the works of around fifty artists who complement each other and advance this art of line, expression, and humanity. The exhibition, composed of drawings and paintings, is organized into two unique routes, corresponding to two distinct periods.
At the Ferme Ornée, figurative art from 1950 to 2000
Guy Boyer, the curator of the exhibition, explains that he wants to bring visibility back to the forgotten.
Those who have been overlooked because they didn't fit the current trends, the opinions of critics, and museums. The first part of the exhibition is dedicated to former artists who achieved a moderate success: Dado, Jacques Truphémus, Raymond Mason and their colleagues are among those who represent raw views of the studio, overwhelmed characters, self-portraits, and the bustling world of life, rare sights in contemporary art museums. During the journey through the Ferme Ornée, you will travel through different eras and witness the evolution of figurative art from the last century, from Sam Szafran to Susanne Hay and her male nudes, not forgetting Pierre Skira and his pastel-drawn manuscripts. It ends with a gallery of portraits, including those of Mouna Rebeiz, which will please the feminist among you. Figurative art at its finest.f represents the real, and is impregnated with the causes that constitute it.
