The Editor

Yes, the economy can be a vast space for creativity, even play, to explore and understand the world we live in. What's the proof? The Devenir Festival, which will hold its 5th edition this April at the Cité de l’Économie. Four days dedicated to art, economy, and the social sciences, tackling the biggest contemporary issues—whether they are economic, ecological, or even technological—while celebrating and having fun.

A festival to laugh and take action

In total, 30 exciting highlights will make the festival a blast. The kickoff will be on Thursday, April 9, with an opening night that combines a guided tour of the museum and a show, When the media echoes the world. This will set the tone for a weekend filled with five round tables and conferences, seven artistic performances — whether theatrical or stand-up —, nine guided tours and debate visits, as well as three workshops and activities, all hosted by economists, journalists, researchers, and artists. Here, you'll discover and learn, of course, but above all, we share, we laugh, we nurture our thoughts and we take action!

An event accessible to everyone

To wrap up the festivities in style, the New World Orchestra, the first orchestra committed to social and climate justice, will present a unique concert on Sunday, April 12. Under the baton of conductor Étienne Jarrier, about fifteen musicians will perform Soupir — a piece about the decline of biodiversity — as well as an original creation.

The young audience won't be left out. With the Festival for Little Ones, Devenir Festival offers the adults of tomorrow workshops, storytelling tours, and shows on Saturday, April 11, and Sunday, April 12, to creatively explore the economy and the environment around them. So, prêt·e à refaire le monde ?
