New year, new masterpiece by artist JR. As we announced last September, after the Palais Garnier, the famous street artist is now set to create a stunning piece of art on Pont Neuf, just like he knows how to do best. While it was previously known that the installation would take place in 2026, no exact date had been shared until now. We have the details now: the appointment for The Cave of Pont Neuf is confirmed for June 6 to June 28, 2026.

A vibrant tribute to the project by Christo and Jeanne-Claude
This new installation will take place to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the work of Christo and Jeanne-Claude: The Pont Neuf Wrapped. From September 22 to October 5, 1985, the two artists wrapped the entire Pont Neuf in 41,000 square meters of sand-colored fabric. 300 workers and 12 engineers worked on the project. « I wanted to transform it, turning an architectural object into an inspiration for artists, an artwork in itself », Christo explained once the project was completed.

An immersive work
With this "Pont-Neuf Project," JR pays a stunning tribute to Christo and Jeanne-Claude and their work. But an additional aspect will be added to this unique piece.
: the act of being immersive. Designed like a cave, the optical illusion will create the impression that large rocks under which one can walk connect the two banks. The inspiration has been drawn from the quarries where the stones that make up the bridge come from. “ What a wonderful idea to revive this artistic gesture thanks to the universe and the immense talent of JR ! [...] This time, we will be able to experience the artwork on foot, by bike, or while strolling along the banks of the Seine : the Pont Neuf remains the same, but Paris has truly changed », says Anne Hidalgo, Mayor of Paris.
