The Editor

Their names are Alix d’Anethan, Fortescue-Brickdale, Marie Bashkirtseff, and Helena Schjerfbeck… These names may not ring a bell, but these women painters made a significant mark on art history between the 19th and 20th centuries. And at the Musée d’Orsay, they are set to receive a true renaissance. On Thursday, February 19th, the cultural institution will dedicate an exceptional evening to them as part of the Orsay Live series. This festive, immersive, and timeless event is titled « Women in Art: The Boldness to Create » and will give the public a chance to connect with these painters through music, song, and dance.

The Must-Visit Event at the Orsay Museum

Not familiar with Orsay Live? Let us jog your memory! These regular events give the public a chance to (re)discover the museum, its artists, and their works through discussions, artistic performances, or unique experiences. On February 19, 2026, women will take center stage with a special exhibition and three new exclusive female acquisitions.

An evening of music and movement

While the spotlight will be on women during this evening, it will also shine on art in all its diversity. The cellist Dom la Nena, choreographer and dancer Dorothée Munyaneza, and singer and multi-instrumentalist Gildaa will invite the audience to share a glimpse of their artistic universes through short performances, inspired directly by the paintings and interpreted amidst them. This unique evening will be wonderfully feminine — we highly recommend you don’t miss it. Besides, it’s free of charge, just bring along some proof of identity!

access to the museum... and just a reminder that the museum is also free for those under 26!
