The Editor

It's been 10 years now that year after year, program after program, the MAIF Social Club has been working to make art and culture accessible to all, championing values of sharing, environmental protection, and living together. To enrich the programming of this one-of-a-kind anniversary, the institution invites us to discover a unique exhibition that encourages us to defend our right to inhabit the Earth differently.

Fighting through art

At the heart of this exhibition, a simple, unchanging observation: the world is suffering. Economic, environmental, and social crises keep piling up, yet never rob citizens of all hope for the future. A timely subject that the MAIF Social Club explores here section by section. After establishing the state of our society, the invited artists shine a light on the imp

the importance of the art of disobedience, the necessity to create connection to strengthen our gatherings, or even the need to imagine new paths to draw desirable futures. A journey that inevitably resonates with current events, by making art a true means of reflection, but also to give power back to the people, where citizens are sometimes viewed as mere spectators facing the actions of those in power. Here, resistance becomes an escape route, a breath of fresh air, a collective solution, in a whirlwind of support, colors, shapes and life.

Dozens of Battles

Chapter after chapter, the artists and collectives carefully selected by MAIF Social Club present us with works that are as diverse as they are complementary, focusing in turn on social inequalities, ecology and even freedom of expression. Thus, the Letter Tables by Basserode transform language into a weapon to invent and build, while Simon Augade's Wall Breaker illustrates the endless power of nature. Zoé Saudrais enchants and inspires us with her colorful protest banners, and Julie Chaffort shines a light on the importance of collective action, the strength of unity, in a video full of sensitivity and poetry. In bref, the exhibition invites us to plant the seeds of a better future, to imagine another way of living, without ever forgetting our heritage, our joy, and our humanity.
