The Editor

Rewarding young prodigies of the cinema, those who still have everything to prove in an industry as beautiful as it is ruthless. On Saturday, April 27, cinema enthusiasts were invited to a grand ceremony, that of the Nikon Film Festival, within the walls of a monument of Parisian cinema, namely the Grand Rex. For three years, this international event has led to the creation of experimental short films, competing around a specific theme, this year being fire.

Present at the Grand Rex to present the awards were some well-known personalities from the audiovisual landscape. The president of the jury was none other than the most eccentric director of the moment, Quentin Dupieux, surrounded by the star actor Yannick Raphaël Quenard, the singer with lyrics as sensitive as they are universal Juliette Armanet, the favorite YouTuber of an entire generation Seb, the actress Zita Hanrot, César for best female newcomer in 2016, and Nora Hamzawi, a multi-talented comedian who can just as easily entertain a theater audience as host a radio show.

A theme, 2 minutes 20 of film

To participate in the festival, the concept is simple: you need to make a short film of 2 minutes and 20 seconds on a set theme, different each year. A committee of professionals from the audiovisual sector then judges them, to award several prizes, such as the jury, the media, male acting, female acting or the best screenplay. Similarly, the films in competition are subjected to public voting throughout the duration of the festival.

The Happy Winners

With such an exciting theme, this 4th edition sparked the enthusiasm of 2,700 passionate film lovers from various countries. They had until January 20, 2024 at noon to submit their short films; then 50 productions were selected by the jury. We now know the happy winners, who showed dedication, inspiration, talent, and technical mastery, like true film professionals.
