For his first feature film, Bertrand de Langeron, graphic designer for the Ed Banger label and creator of iconic music videos, really went all out. Supported by the production company Iconoclast (Athena, Spring Breakers), the artist commonly known as SoMe first envisioned a comedic thriller blending espionage and music, then called upon some well-known faces from the French comedy scene to spice things up. The result is Banger, an indescribable mix that promises to be quite wild, with the main punchlines thrown our way in an explosive teaser.

Two DJs, One Banger to Drop 

The vibe is set right from the first few seconds. Vincent Cassel, sporting a jacket that's a bit too small for him, gets the crowd pumped up through a cheesy promotional clip. His stage name? Scorpex. It’s a sad performance, notes Rose Espino (Laura Felpin, recently seen in Bref.2), an agent with the DGSI, but that's a good thing: it’s in his vulnerability that he’ll find the most use. Scorpex needs to help her catch Vestax (Mister Vlittle jerk,” as he calls him, and make a comeback with a strong banger.

High-Flying Distribution

While the trailer for this Netflix-style comedy already reveals half of its adventures (and definitely its main humorous highlights), it also hints at a huge potential. First, there's the original soundtrack with its electro vibes, but also the casting, featuring Alexis Manenti as a tense leader, Panayotis Pascot, the unfortunate bearer of an unusual first name, Manu Payet, Philippe Katerine, and, surprisingly, the photographer Alice Moitié.

A cocktail of beloved stars from the younger generation to create an event, complemented by the music, “one of the film’s actors,” explained Bertrand de Langeron to Vanity Fair during the filming. It's a film that balances between decline and glory, thriller and comedy, drama and...
