Whether you loved the first two films or not, the fact remains the same: The Three Musketeers is clearly a massive French saga. Whether it's because of its star-studded cast, or because it adapts one of the most famous French novels, the series is a major production, and it works. As proof, Pathé Studios have just announced that the third installment will indeed be released.

Third time's the charm

Dimitri Rassam, who brought us the first two adventures of d'Artagnan and his companions, as well as the more recent Count of Monte Cristo, has announced that he plans to adapt the continuation of the escapades of our four companions, as imagined by Alexandre Dumas in the book Twenty Years After.

Welcome to our store!.

Luckily for us, we won't have to wait two decades to see François Civil, Pio Marmaï, Romain Duris, and Vincent Cassel together again. Just so you know, it's still not happening right away! The producer of the saga hopes to start filming this 3rd installment in 2027, which means the final product may not be released until 3 or 4 years from now.

An endless saga?

This gives us plenty of time to completely forget the content of the first two films, so we can dive back into them with joy in a few months. Even better, it will allow those who want to take on a real challenge to delve into reading the over 800 pages of the first book in the trilogy by Dumas (which features the first two films).

But for now, there is no indication that Dimitri Rassam will adapt the third book, The Vicomte of Bragelonne, less known than the first two. In any case, this new project will be a way to see how our 4 friends have evolved, and especially to meet their offspring, since this second novel features Athos's son, but also Milady de Winter's son. Children who, in adaptations, are one and the same person. Can't wait to see how it turns out!
