Attention to all fans of the greatest cinematic masterpiece of all time, I named: Shrek. After laughing and crying through the first four films dedicated to the green ogre and all his little world, and after the release of two films dedicated to Puss in Boots, the production has finally decided to focus on Shrek's most faithful steed, Donkey. Yes, you read it right, Donkey will most likely soon have his own spin-off! It's the original voice of the equine, Eddie Murphy himself, who announced the news. A 5th installment for Shrek In early 2023, we announced the return of the green ogre to the cinema for a 5th installment, over 14 years after the release of the last film in 2010. For the moment, no official information has been revealed.Regarding this, rumors are flying and it seems that we can expect a release for 2025. Interrogated by Collider, Eddie Murphy announced that he had already "started working on Shrek 5 several months ago", specifying that he had already "recorded the first part" and that it would be finished this year. But that's not all. The one who lends his voice to Donkey since the beginning of the saga in 2001 (23 years ago...) also revealed that "a feature film dedicated to his character" was in the works: "Shrek 5 will be released and then Donkey will have his own film," he confirmed to the media.

What French voice for Donkey?

If the American casting remains the same - with Mike Myers as Shrek, Cameron Diaz as Fiona, and Eddie Murphy as Donkey - changes are expected on the French side. Indeed, the iconic French voice of the character Donkey belonged to the actor Med Hondo, who passed away in 2019. Now, we must wait and see who will replace him. In 2010, another actor, Serge Faliu, known for dubbing actors like Adam Sandler and Charlie Sheen, had already lent his voice to Donkey for two special TV productions: Scared Shrekless and Donkey's Shrektacular Christmas.
