The Lion King, Dumbo, Aladdin, Mulan, The Little Mermaid, and soon Snow White… Live-action adaptations of popular animated classics Disney have been all the rage in recent years. And a new one has just joined the list! The unmissable, the heartwarming, the absolutely stunning (objectively speaking, of course) filmTangled, released in 2010, is also going to get its remake. The director of The Greatest Showman to adapt this animated film

As revealed by Variety, it's none other than director Michael Gracey — well-known for the musical The Greatest Showman and more recently, the Robbie Williams biopic, Better Man — who would be talking with Disney to create the live action adaptation of Tangled, which is based on the classic tale by the Grimm brothers. Joining him would be screenwriter Jennifer Kaytin Kitsch. 


A duo of Sabrina Carpenter and Timothée Chalamet ?

As for the casting, nothing has been revealed yet, but rumors are spreading fast. To take on the role of the iconic princess with long blonde hair, it is...The actresses Sabrina Carpenter, Florence Pugh, and Chloë Grace Moretz are in the spotlight! To play her partner, Flynn Rider, rumors are buzzing about names like Tom Holland or Timothée Chalamet, which isn't surprising at all. In fact, it's Zachari Levi, the voice of the thief that Rapunzel falls in love with, who suggested the actor’s name to Entertainment Tonight: “I’m so proud of this film and I'm really grateful to have been a part of this project. I’ve always dreamed of being in a Disney musical animated film. [...] He’s already got all the roles, but I’d say maybe Timothée Chalamet,” he stated. Allo Ciné hints that the film could release in 2027, so we just have to hang in there a little longer!
