This is the good news of the week. Just a few days ago, we learned about the closure of the worst metro line in Paris for no less than a month and a half. IDFM has just balanced things out a bit by announcing that Pass Navigo holders will be able to travel on the Orlyval at no extra cost during the entire duration of the work on the RER B.

Complicated weeks for those in the south

It has been a few weeks now since IDFM has been slowly revealing its summer work schedule for the Île-de-France public transport network. Recently, it’s the RER B users who have been hit hard, learning that their favorite line — whether they like it or not — is...— would be affected by a monumental construction project, from June 27 to August 30, with a non-stop period starting from July 25.

The Southern part of the line, managed by the RATP (unlike the northern part run by the SNCF), will not be spared, as it will be halted for three weeks. Initially, from Gare du Nord to Bourg-La-Reine from July 25 to August 7, and then to Croix-de-Berny and Robinson from August 8 to 16. This situation is quite a challenge for both daily commuters and those wanting to head to Orly Airport during the holidays — which is a pretty likely scenario in mid-August.

Backup solutions

; where it hurts down below, it's mainly for regular users of the southern B line. Fortunately, in its great generosity, IDFM has decided to offer this summer to its users with a Navigo pass (weekly, monthly, or yearly) the chance to enjoy trips on the Orlyval without any extra charge. As a reminder, it usually costs €14. This is fantastic news for everyone living to the south of Anthony (the part of the line that will be served all summer), who can use it to easily reach line 14, and thus the capital.
