It is undoubtedly one of the most iconic series in the world. Aired between 1974 and 1983, Little House on the Prairie captivated over 5 billion viewers around the globe. A “heartwarming family drama, but also an epic survival story and a faithful representation of American West history,” according to Jinny Howe, Vice President of Dramatic Series for Netflix, which we are already so eager to discover.

An amazing team already on board

Tin, tin, tin, tintintiiiiiiiiiiiin.” We all have that exceptional theme song stuck in our heads, which surely once made us want to tumble down a big grassy hill. After 9 seasons and more than 40 years off the air, the doors of the most famous little house are opening once again!

The curtains of the world will reopen, thanks to new episodes adapted from the novel by Laura Ingalls Wilder (because yes, it’s a real story, and the Ingalls family really existed!).

If the information was confirmed in a press release published on Wednesday, January 29, we still don't know if it will be a pure reboot of the original series, or a reinterpretation of the literary work, offering new storylines. What is certain is that Rebecca Sonnenshine, known for her work on the series The Boys, The Vampire Diaries and Archive 81, will be in charge of the writing.

A new lesson of hope

Behind this project lies a very simple goal: to pass on values of hope and mutual support to new generations, while revisiting references that resonate with everyone.

It will delight the first hour fans. To ensure this transition between different audiences, the platform has also partnered with Trip Friendly, from the company Friendly Family Productions, whose dad Ed had worked on the original series!

For now, as you’ve probably guessed, production has just barely started and it shouldn’t be hitting the screen anytime soon. However, we hope it doesn’t end up like the Paramount series project from 2020 and the movie from 2014, which never came to life. And for those who are already bouncing with excitement, we suggest filling the time by renting a replica of the house, to experience the series while waiting to be able to watch it again!
