Almost two years ago, in November 2023, the development of the future line 15 of the network and the plans for the Grand Paris Express made a huge leap forward. After more than 8 years of projects and work, the first metros were finally running on these tracks. Unfortunately for everyone in the Île-de-France region impacted by this revolution, it was just a test. For the serious stuff, it seems we’ll have to wait a little longer.
« How much of a delay? »
Our favorite architect, Numérobis, understood this well; when it comes to construction, delays are part of the game. And the project of the Grand Paris Express is no exception. Indeed, the first rides on the line were supposed to start in 2022, but ...Île-de-France Mobilités had to quickly scale back its projects due to unexpected technical and budget constraints. While a few months ago, we were being told about a launch by 2025 and then summer 2026, it seems that in reality, things are more likely to come together around 2027!

At the same time, it must be said that this line 15 represents quite an ambitious project. 75 km of tracks, 36 stations and 45 municipalities crossed, that's the colossal plan for this new addition, which will have such a lovely burgundy color. Certainly, this huge new loop is bound to delight the locals at the new stations, and everyone who needs to travel easily from suburb to suburb. But what does the timeline look like?
Just a bit more patience
First things first, you should know that, given the scale of the project, the opening of line 15 will happen gradually, in three distinct sections. Initially, it’s the south axis that will open its doors, between Pont de Sèvres and Noisy-Champs. This first segment of track should therefore be accessible soon!
to the public in almost 2 years, since it's the middle of the second trimester, and more specifically April 2027 that's coming up more and more.La ligne 15 n’arrivera pas en 2026

However, the Company of Major Projects assures that everything is being done to maximize the progress of the work, and continues to aim for a launch by the end of 2026. It's a date that's a bit closer to us, for sure, but whatever happens, we know we'll need to brace ourselves with a little more patience to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel and hop on a ride on line 15.
