More than a year ago, HBO shook up the world of all Potterheads by announcing a brand new series inspired by the Harry Potter universe. After a lot of speculation and rumors, it seems that things are finally starting to take shape, and the project is moving forward step by step. Warner has just made an intriguing announcement, catching all fans of the saga off guard.

It is certainly a very ambitious project that Max has embarked on by announcing a new series recounting the adventures of the boy with glasses. And for good reason, Harry Potter is 7 books that fans know absolutely by heart, and that must be respected to the letter, but also 8 films very much appreciated by the general public, that must at least be matched, while avoiding being too similar or too different. A real challenge. However, the production team does not back down, and even tackles the concrete development of the series, finally revealing the first names!


A promising team

The Warner Bros team wishes to create the.Warner has just solved one of the trickiest questions when it comes to such a project: the choice of people to whom to entrust the reins. In fact, the production company unveiled the names of the showrunners and main directors in charge of this series on Wednesday, June 26. And these two quite prestigious names should help reassure fans a little about the quality of future episodes.

On one side, the overall supervision of the saga has been entrusted to the screenwriter Francesca Gardiner, known for highly successful creations such as Killing Eve and His Dark Materials. She will be accompanied on the directing side by Mark Mylod. And with this choice, HBO has also selected locally, as he has worked on several episodes of Game of Thrones, or more recently The Last of Us, two major productions from the channel available on Max. Finally, to truly establish the legitimacy of the duo, we'll just say this: this isn't the first time Gardiner and Mylod have been called upon to work together, as they have already done so on the series Succession.

These should not come out before 2026, according to the latest information. From that moment on, Max plans to broadcast the series over about ten years, with each season supposed to tackle one of the books from the saga.
