It's a very ambitious project that the streaming platform Max has embarked on, announcing a new series detailing the adventures of the most famous bespectacled wizard. And for good reason, Harry Potter consists of 7 books that fans know by heart and will need to stick to the letter, as well as 8 beloved films that will need to be at least matched, while avoiding being too similar or too different. It's a true challenge, both in terms of casting choices and aesthetic decisions.
A Return to the Fundamentals
In 2001, David Heyman took a bold gamble: adapting a book that would later become a true phenomenon, Harry Potter. Over the years, he surrounds himself with the best directors and actors of the moment. However, at that time, everyone makes a unique choice by grounding the film's aesthetics in the 2000s rather than the 90s, as is the case in the original books.

For this exciting new production, it seems that HBO Max has made a different choice that has us here at the office buzzing with joy. Indeed, according to the first leaked images from the shoot circulating on social media, there's no doubt that the story will unfold in 1991. With sparkly jackets, big earrings, brightly colored corduroy pants, shoulder pads, and funky vests, all the elements are coming together to take us on a time travel adventure.
A Decision That Divides
We, personally, absolutely love this super retro aesthetic, and we can’t wait to dive deeper into this world. However, it seems that some fans aren’t too thrilled with the idea, feeling that it strays too far from the aesthetic of the films.
But at the same time, with a project of such magnitude, it's tough to please everyone. So, the production had to handle the joy or the anger of the fans after casting announcements.HBO's Harry Potter filming the Weasley family at King's Cross station, London pic.twitter.com/EzNhNtgP9p

Anyway, the recent announcement about the return of one of the main actors from the original saga has everyone on the same page. In the meantime, we'll need to show a bit of patience to see if we fully support these choices, as the series won't be airing until 2027. While we wait, with autumn right around the corner, it's the perfect time to get ready for a mandatory Harry Potter marathon during this time of year.
