Emma Stone crowned Best Actress
Emma Stone shines once again as an actress of "Oscar-worthy roles". The actress, who had already been crowned for her role as a romantic bohemian in La La Land, wins the Oscar for Best Actress for the second time. Her interpretation of Bella Baxter in Pauvres Créatures was particularly noteworthy, a role she describes as "joyful", but also "the most demanding" of her career.
It is impossible not to mention the actress's speech, visibly embarrassed by her dress, whose zipper broke in the back during the ceremony. A classic.
Luckily, Emma Stone knows how to bounce back, and quickly teased her co-star Ryan Gosling: "I think it happened during I'm Just Ken."« Je suis vraiment dépassée et j’ai un peu perdu ma voix, merci de m'avoir offert ce rôle c'est un cadeau d'une vie »

Justine Triet wins Best Original Screenplay
Competing in five categories, Anatomy of a Fall only managed to snag one award, that of Best Screenplay. Still, it's a triumph for Justine Triet, who has already won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival and the Best Screenplay award (also) at the Golden Globes. And for good reason: it had been since 2011 (and The Artist by Michel Hazanavicius) that a French film had not won an Oscar.
"I think it will help me get through my midlife crisis," said the director as she took the stage, out of breath, to accept her precious trophy alongside her partner, Arthur Harari. It was during the lockdown caused by the Covid-19 pandemic that the couple co-wrote the screenplay. A major award for a low-budget film of 6.2 million euros.

Messi, star of Anatomy of a Fall, learns to applaud
The image is circulating on Twitter right now: Messi, the famous dog from Anatomy of a Fall, may even be stealing the show, right after Sandra Hüller's performance, with a dedicated seat at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. The beloved doggy had everyone laughing, filmed clapping with his two paws as Robert Downey Jr. received the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. Surely the most adorable edit of all ceremonies (don't tell me you didn't fall for it...).

Gérard Depardieu gets tackled by Jimmy Kimmel
It was free, and extremely delicious. Yesterday, Jimmy Kimmel, the ceremony host, didn't hold back and tackled Gérard Depardieu, charged with rape and sexual assault. In what context? We come back once again to Messi: “The dog from Anatomy of a Fall is there. He's incredible, I haven't seen a French actor eat vomit like that since Gérard Depardieu” stated the American comedian in front of the cinema stars. A great moment to watch over and over again.

Ryan Gosling lights up the stage with I'm Just Ken
If there were an Oscar for best musical performance, Ryan Gosling would have been the victorious one. Last night, the actor set the stage on fire, dressed in a glittery bubblegum pink suit, performing I'm Just Ken, one of the iconic songs from Barbie, overlooked by the awards. His only prize? The best original song, won by What was I made for ? by Billie Eilish (and not I'm Just Ken, ironic!).
John Cena unveils an Oscar... in the buff It seems like guys just love showing off their birthday suit when no one even expects it. And John Cena is no different: in a surprise moment, the actor and ex-wrestler popped up on stage in the buff to give out the prize for best costumes. To keep things PG, he cleverly covered up with a giant envelope. Luckily, the audience was spared from seeing too much and he promptly got dressed in a toga for the rest of the show. Jonathan Glazer denounces the situation in Gaza
This is one of the strongest statements of the ceremony. Jonathan Glazer, winner of the best foreign film for The Zone of Interest - a film about the Holocaust - denounced on stage the situation in Gaza and the horror of the war between Israel and Hamas. " Whether it's the victims in Israel on October 7, or the ongoing attack in Gaza, they are all victims of dehumanization », he argued, recalling the theme of his film, in which Nazis live without emotions on the outskirts of a concentration camp. At the Oscars, other stars like Mark Ruffalo and Billie Eilish wore red badges calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.
"Nous refusons que notre judéité et l'Holocauste soient récupérés pour justifier une occupation qui a conduit à des conflits pour tant d'innocents… »
