The Editor

Here we go, we're officially stepping into the best time of the year, the one that welcomes the first rays of sunshine and sees Parisian cultural institutions unveil their summer programming. Among them, La Villette with its outdoor cinema, one of the biggest in the capital, which sadly let us down last year due to the Olympics, is back with a bang this year. A must-try cinephile experience to enjoy or re-explore after wandering through the new immersive exhibition at the venue, Into The Light!

34 years of unforgettable screenings

For over a month, short films, movies, and shows will be screened on a giant screen set up on the lawn of La Villette park. It's a long-standing tradition, celebrating its 34th anniversary this year, and it promises to be a huge success after last summer’s absence for Parisians. For an evening, or two, or even twenty, get your popcorn and blankets ready, and let yourself be swept away by some of the greatest masterpieces of the 7th art. The cherry on top? Access is completely free and without reservations (subject to availability), with only the deckchairs available for rent, including a blanket!

Upcoming Programming

For now, La Villette hasn’t shared anything about the theme of the year or the different films being screened. In previous editions, the festival highlighted films related to food (2017), as well as team spirit (2023), featuring classics like Ratatouille, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Drunk, along with lesser-known films such as Antoinette in the Cevennes and Tokyo Delights. Let’s hear your predictions !
