If the rumor had been circulating for a few months, or even a few years, nothing had been officially confirmed by Disney. But now, it's official! The company has just posted an unmistakable photo on its Instagram account, and let me tell you, we are thrilled about this comeback!

Freaky Friday, for the few uncultured souls who haven't had the chance to experience the masterpiece, it's the story of a mother (Jamie Lee Curtis) and her daughter (Lindsay Lohan) who suddenly swap bodies. Of course, it leads to plenty of adventures, juggling high school, work, friends, and romantic relationships. And, hooray, this true gem from the golden age of Disney Channel, which has moved some to tears, is finally coming back for a second installment!


A Long-Awaited Announcement

Alright, even though this time it's official, this comeback isn't really a big surprise for fans of Freaky Friday (the much less stylish French title, we have to admit). Indeed, over a year ago, in February 2023, Jamie Lee Curtis revealed in an interview that she dreamed of reprising her role as Tess Coleman, and that a project was actually in the works. In a very subtle way, the actress had managed the crazy feat of officially teasing this news, while remaining quite vague. Probably to avoid conflicts with Disney. At the time, she said: "It's happening. I'm not saying something official is happening, but I'm looking at you right now and saying, "Of course it's going to"It's going to happen." It's going to happen " ». And thank God, it has indeed happened! 


Date, casting, plot, we reveal everything

After nights of praying, entire days spent restoring good karma, we are finally fulfilled, as the official Instagram account of the film @freakyfridaymovie has just announced that the release date is set for July 17, 2024. And even better news, both Lindsay Lohan and Chad Michael Murray are confirmed to be reprising their roles! The plot details are still under wraps, but we are already counting down the days until we can witness this long-awaited sequel on the big screen once again.

Other iconic actors like Ryan Malgarini (the little brother) or Haley Hudson (the best friend) have not been mentioned, but actress Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (Never Have I Ever) is set to join the cast. What is certain, however, is that our two heroines will once again switch roles, as mother and grandmother this time. The plot will revolve around the preparations for Anna's daughter and her partner's wedding.
