Miguel is coming back! Eight years after the release of the first film, Pixar has officially announced the production of Coco 2, with a planned release in 2029. Happy news for all the soft-hearted folks who, like us, shed tears over this incredibly touching family story.

Same Team in Action

The announcement was made by Bob Iger, Disney's CEO, during the annual shareholders' meeting. At the helm of the project are the directors of the first film, Lee Unkrich and Adrian Molina, who have already delighted both young and old with their colorful and heartfelt universe. Mark Nielsen, known for his work on Toy Story 4 and Inside Out 2, will also ensure the production side. A fantastic team is coming together to create a sequel to one of Pixar's most beloved animated films.

« Full of humor, heart, and adventure »

« Although the film is just getting started, we know it will be full of humor, heart, and adventure. We're excited to share more with you soon », said Bob Iger. Not many details have been revealed about the plot yet, but there's a promise that this sequel will keep the magic so cherished from the first film.

Released in 2017, Coco tells the story of Miguel, a young boy passionate about music, inspired by his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz, who finds himself plunged into the Land of the Dead to discover the secrets of his family. A massive global success, the film grossed over $814 million at the box office and won two prestigious Oscars, including Best Animated Feature. The challenge is great, and the mission delicate for Pixar, which will need to deliver a sequel that lives up to its predecessor, but fortunately, it’s in good hands!

it's hands !
