The Editor

Forget the flashy teaser or the perfectly crafted promotional poster. To unveil the first images of his biopic, Sam Mendes chose a strategy that is as discreet as it is effective. This week, the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts revealed that they hold exclusive postcards related to the film. Students and fans have been invited to start their search on campus, triggering the most British leak possible: the very first official glimpse of the actors in costume.

In these pictures, there's no flashy staging, but the essence is there. Paul Mescal embodies Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson lends his features to John Lennon, Joseph Quinn transforms into George Harrison and Barry Keoghan slips into the role of Ringo Starr. Just some photos to set a look, a silhouette, a resemblance, and already, Keoghan's Ringo impresses with his mimicry.

Four Films, Four Perspectives

Titled The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event, the project stands out for its ambition: to tell the story of the band through four distinct feature films, each focused on a member of The Beatles. All directed by the magnificent Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Skyfall, 1917), the films will be interconnected and embrace a subjective narration, sharing the journey of the band through the intimate lens of each musician. A fresh approach that radically diverges from the stream of impersonal biopics that we see every couple of months.

According to early information, each film will cover a different period, allowing us to trace the gradual rise of the Beatles, from their beginnings in Liverpool to their transformation into a global phenomenon. This is a unique way to revisit a story that has been told a thousand times.

A five-star cast and a date already marked on the calendar

Surrounding the main quartet, Sam Mendes is bringing together a prestigious cast to portray the legendary entourage of the group. Saoirse Ronan will play Linda McCartney, James Norton will be Brian Epstein, while Anna Sawai will take on the role of Yoko Ono. Aimee Lou Wood, Mia McKenna-Bruce, Harry Lloyd, and David Morrissey complete the lineup.

Producer and director of the project, Mendes will start filming soon in the UK, with the approval of the Beatles' families. The four films will be released simultaneously in theaters on April 7, 2028. In the meantime, these first images are already building excitement.
