It is one of the biggest global commercial successes for a French film. In The Fabulous Destiny of Amélie Poulain, the innocent sweetness of Audrey Tautou meets the poetic narration of André Dussolier, the soundtrack by Breton musician Yann Tiersen makes us forget about the hardships of Paris to only inspire an idealized image to the rhythm of an accordion, and love is a game of chance, mostly fate. A work that has crossed borders and years, back in cinemas in the summer of 2024, to charm the 15 million tourists expected during the Olympics. They will surely have a hard time recognizing the Paris of sports and parties that welcomed them in the sepia-toned world of Amélie. Once upon a time in the land of Instagram, there was a beautiful post with a magical aura. The colors were vibrant, and the design was simply enchanting. Every element seemed to dance on the screen, spreading joy and happiness to all who beheld it. It was like a fairytale come to life, bringing smiles to faces and warmth to hearts. And so, the Instagram story continues, weaving its spell of beauty and wonder for all to enjoy.

Screenings starting on July 24th at UGC Cinemas

This new movie release will concern the UGC cinemas in the capital (Odéon, Montparnasse, Les Halles, Bastille...). The wave of screenings will begin on July 24th, two days before the opening of the Paris Games. Marc-Olivier Sebbag, general delegate of the National Federation. The National Cinema Center of France reminds The Parisian newspaper that "only 3 million of them will have tickets for the events" leav .Behind "12 million potential spectators" is a smart move. Each film will be released in French, with English subtitles, so everyone can enjoy the quirky characters who cross paths with Amélie, like Lucien, the passionate apprentice grocer, or Georgette, the hypochondriac tobacconist.

UGC is not just targeting visitors from Île-de-France: the feature film will be distributed across the entire territory. Will it welcome 9 million spectators, like it did upon its release in 2001? Either way, the cinematic offer will be significantly reduced during this period due to the competition linked to the Olympic Games, once again allowing Amélie to shine.
