The Editor

The genius of Hayao Miyazaki in a film. Spirited Away (you must have guessed it), the second biggest commercial success ever achieved in Japan, is itself a animated spectacle that has left a lasting mark on generations. The director creates a quirky universe where spirits, animals, and humans coexist, and where each character (ugly, silly, or both) plays a part in Chihiro's quest, facing spells and other supernatural challenges.

A wonder that may traumatize a little when you're a child, but that you love to rediscover once you're grown up, even more so on the big screen. So for one and only one day, make sure to watch it in the cinema over 20 years after its release

Screening in UGC cinemas in several major French cities

On April 25th, the UGC cinemas in Bordeaux, Caen, Lille, Lyon, Nancy, Nantes, Strasbourg, Toulouse, and, most importantly, Paris, will be showing the incredible Spirited Away. This is a great tribute to Miyazaki, who continues to shine in France and internationally: his latest project, The Boy and the Heron (2023), equally dreamlike, won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film.

This autobiographical work still uses the 2D technique and showcases the immense talent of the acclaimed "master of animation". Hopefully, the horizon of his artistic retirement remains only a hypothetical metaphor from the film.
